The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission Will Require Electronic Payment of Temporary Compensation and Expenses
SOUTH CAROLINA – On May 31, 2024, the SCWCC issued an Advisory Notice indicating that Regulation 67–1602 has been amended, and now requires electronic payment of temporary compensation (TTD) and expenses (i.e. mileage).
A carrier may file a motion to request permission to continue to pay benefits/expenses by paper check for a period of time not to exceed two years. The commission will only grant a carrier’s request if the carrier can show that complying with the new requirement will result in hardship for the carrier.
Before a carrier starts making payments to a claimant, the carrier must provide the claimant with notice of the method of electronic payment available and how to access it. The claimant may elect to receive payments by paper check.
