Mike Smith practices in the firm’s Greenville office. He graduated from Clemson University cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1984 and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987.
Mike is admitted to the South Carolina and Tennessee bar. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Districts of South Carolina and Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. He served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable C. Victor Pyle, Jr., in Greenville, South Carolina. Mike practiced law in his hometown of Anderson, South Carolina with a general civil litigation defense firm before joining the firm in 2025. His practice focuses in the areas of insurance defense and governmental liability.
Mike lives in Greenville, South Carolina. Outside of the office, he enjoys traveling, staying physically active, spoiling his five grandchildren and following Clemson athletics.
